Center for Human Rights Development

The Centre for Human Rights and Development (CHRD) is a non-government, non-partisan organization established in 1998, operates as not-for-profit, public-benefit organization for the purpose of promoting and protecting human rights and social justice in Mongolia.

A developed Mongolia where every individual enjoys the right to participation and development.

MISSION

To contribute to the protection of every person’s right to participation and to the promotion of equal participation of all stakeholders in development.

CHRD Creed

We believe that fulfilment of human rights creates the requisite conditions for poverty reduction, protection of ecological balance and sustainable development. People’s participation in the formulation, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of local and national development policies and programs is the sole way of ensuring that everyone benefits fairly from the results of development.

THE CHRD STRUCTURE and GOVERNANCE

The CHRD implements its activities through the Board, Executive Director, Program Managers, Program officers, Program Assistant, Finance Officer, Contractors and Volunteers (Researchers, Lawyers/Advocacy workers, Youths), CHRD affiliated Associations of Citizens’ Groups established at aimag and soum level, their Community Development Funds, Citizens’ groups and their members.

The CHRD cooperates with many national, Asian and global civil society organizations, alliances and networks including the Human Rights Forum, MONFEMNET, Publish What You Pay Coalition, the National Coalition for “Education for All”, the Coalition for “Food Sovereignty”, and the Network of CSOs for SDGs and “FORUM-ASIA”, Asia Pacific Research Network, Asia Pacific Forum on Women in Law and Development, Asia Democracy Network, Asian Development Alliance and as well as the CSO Partnership for Development Effectiveness.

STRATEGIC GOALS FOR 2023-2025:

Advance the right of local communities to participation by strengthening their collective capacity in formulation of development policy and demanding accountability for implementation through monitoring, evaluation of the plan and budget on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Support organized participation of local citizens to assess and improve the structure and mechanism to discuss issues on human rights, environment and development, to plan for solutions, to monitor and evaluate progress.  

These strategic goals will be implemented through the three programs including:

  1. Human rights protection and advocacy program
  2. Program for strengthening development accountability
  3. Community based development program
